The Air Force's premiere reconnaissance and command-and-control operation, Offutt AFB is a diverse workforce representing all branches of the military with a fleet of aircraft in constant demand around the world. The base's E-4B aircraft also provide transport, command and control for the President, Secretary of Defense and Secretary of State.

The base resides in the rolling hills of southeastern Nebraska, next to Bellevue and just south of Omaha. Offutt is the only remaining active military base in the state of Nebraska. The installation was named in honor of 1st Lt. Jarvis J. Offutt, who was Omaha's first World War I air casualty. Health care is provided by the 45-bed Ehrling Berquist Hospital.

A wide range of activities and recreational opportunities are available, some of which are bowling, golf, two fitness centers, skeet shooting, a lake for camping and fishing, pools and a library.
