Naval Support Activity Mid-South in Millington, Tenn., is home to many activities that provide administrative and logistic support to the entire Navy. The history of Naval Support Activity Mid-South dates from 1942 when the base was commissioned as a Naval Reserve Air Base. Officially designated as a Naval Air Station in 1943, the mission changed again at the end of World War II when the Reserve Training Command was incorporated into the facility. In 1949, all reserve support and logistic activities were merged with the Naval Air Station. This mission remained relatively unchanged until 1995 when the facility received its naval support activity designation and called NAVSUPPACT Memphis. Its current title, NACSUPPACT Mid-South, became official in 1998.

Millington is nearly 20 miles from Memphis in Shelby County, Tenn. A tremendous amount of civic pride graces Millington since its beginnings in 1878. It has been officially designated "Flag City, Tennessee" by the state legislature. Millington has received the "Three-Star Award," the state's highest community award for its accomplishments in economic development, community leadership and overall livability. The U.S. Department of Education has recognized one of the elementary schools in Millington. Activities galore are within a short distance of the city. Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park is a 13,000-acre park bordering the mighty Mississippi River. Memphis International MotorSports Park hosts events on four different tracks.
