Mountain Home Air Force Base is the mountain home of the Air Force's premier air expeditionary wing - the 366th Wing. With the Idaho capital, Boise, 52 miles to the northwest, Mountain Home's residents have their home near many magnificent sights and attractions that can't be found anywhere else. Mountain Home AFB, the only active military base in Idaho, has 15 miles of the Boise National Forest within its boundaries as well as rivers filled with steelhead trout and whitewater rapids and 2.2 million acres of trees, lakes, streams and wildlife.

The 366th Wing is designed to deploy with its own command, control, computer, communications and intelligence capabilities. This allows aircrews to train and fight alongside the same people. The Battlelab studies promising operations and logistics concepts to implement in Air Force policy.

All off-base schools are also in Mountain Home. Health care is provided by the 366th Medical Group, which maintains a 20-bed hospital, under the Tricare system. Looking for fun? Try the base's golf course; stables and riding club; bowling lanes; indoor pool; trap and skeet range; gym; and arts and crafts center.
