The Air Force C-130 transport aircraft is one of the service's workhorses, used on a variety of missions, from fire support to supply. The men and women who fly them, therefore, are a valuable commodity for the Air Force. To learn to fly the giant planes, pilots are sent to the Little Rock Air Force Base in Arkansas.

Little Rock Air Force Base, situated next to the city of Jacksonville, trains C-130 aircraft pilots and crews for military, Coast Guard and Department of Defense personnel in addition to foreign personnel in the shadow of all that history.

The Air Education and Training Command fulfills the base's primary mission of training. However, the 134th Airlift Wing provides a major portion of the "Global Power" leg of the USAF's Global Reach operation.

The Medical Operations Squadron on base offers outpatient care but does not have capacity for overnight or emergency care. Local hospitals in Jacksonville and Little Rock can provide these services. The base does have a good dental clinic where oral surgery is performed. To use this program, you must obtain a referral from your commander. All public schools on or near the base are run by the local school district.
