Fort Sam Houston, Lackland AFB and Randolph AFB became Joint Base San Antonio (jbsa) in October of 2010.

Fort Sam Houston is Headquarters for the U.S. Army Medical Command, Fort Sam Houston, Texas dates to a post on the current site in San Antonio in 1718. The fort was named in 1890 to honor Sam Houston, who led troops during the Indian Wars and was elected to Congress and governor of Tennessee, later serving as a U.S. senator from Texas.
