Installation Info: Zip Code: 08641, Area Code: 609, DSN: 650

From its beginnings in 1937 as a single dirt-strip runway with a handful of buildings, McGuire Air Force Base today is a key installation of the Air Mobility Command, evident in their motto, "One Team, One Theme - Mobility."

Air mobility assets remain in a constant state of readiness, featuring the C141-B Starlifter, the KC-10 Extender and the KC-135 Stratotanker. Team McGuire's mission responsibilities include the movement of troops, passengers, military equipment, cargo, mail and aerial refueling. Near Wrightstown, N.J., 15 miles southeast of Trenton. The installation honors the late Maj. Thomas B. McGuire Jr., a Medal of Honor recipient and the second leading air ace in World War II before he was killed in action. Health care provided by outpatient clinics and Memorial Hospital of Burlington County in Mount Holly.

Vegetable and plant stands appear everywhere during the spring, summer and fall, with "U-Pick" farms within a few minutes of the base. The cultural attractions and professional sports teams of New York City are an hour's drive away, and base recreation includes a fitness center, golf, pool and aero club.
