Cape Cod, Massachusetts is a mecca for tourists from all over the world. Home to a number of lighthouses, great fishing, salt air, summer squalls and beautiful beach walks, it is renowned for the serenity and scenery it offers.

Protecting the waterways and shores of the Cape is the Coast Guard Air Station. Home to 300 active-duty personnel and 225 civilians, the Station houses a number of aircraft and water monitoring stations.

Major units at the station are the Camp Edwards Reserve Training Site and the 102nd Intelligence Wing. The wing is composed of helicopters and jets that perform search and rescue, drug interdiction, marine law enforcement, pollution detection, ice-breaking operations and scientific experimentation.

Base housing consists of 636 housing units. Temporary lodging is available, as is childcare and a health clinic. Schools are run by the local school district. Anyone needing more than clinic care goes to the Falmouth Hospital and Naval Hospital in Newport, R.I. A golf course is available, and the base also has a movie theater, library and recreation center. Coast Guard Beach is part of the nearby national seashore that offers great scenery and a fantastic walk.
